Daycare
Why should I take my dog to daycare?
Dogs are social animals who thrive on routine. They can benefit from a structured, balanced approach and positive reinforcement that our certified daycare workers provide. Daycare is also a great alternative for dogs who cannot be left home alone due to anxious or destructive behaviours.
What does the “Meet and Greet” involve?
This is a quick assessment of your dogs social foundation, comfort level with our other guests, and a chance for us to review your current vaccination records, as we are a fully vaccinated facility.
What vaccinations are required before my dog can start daycare?
The Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine is recommended but not required. We ask that you make an informed decision about this vaccine with your vet.
What if I am going to be late picking up my dog from daycare?
We fully appreciate that sometimes expected things come up at the last minute. If you expect to be late in picking up your dog, we ask that you please call us to let us know as soon as possible at 250-920-3647. Late fees are $5 for the first 10 minutes, $1 per minute after that.
My dog’s feeding schedule includes lunch. Can they be fed their lunch at daycare?
Definitely! Please ensure your dog’s lunch is clearly labeled with their name in a reusable container which we will return at pick-up. We use stainless steel bowls that are thoroughly disinfected after each use.
Are you able to administer my dog’s medications?
If your dog requires eye drops and/or oral medications, our staff will follow your instructions explicitly and can administer medications as required.
Can my dog bring their favourite toys to daycare?
Many dogs tend to be protective over their own toys, therefore we do not allow your pets to bring any from home.
What happens if my dog gets injured or sick while at daycare?
If your dog appears to be feeling ill or is in any way acting differently from their usually behaviour, we will inform you right away so that you can come and pick them up if necessary.
How old do puppies need to be to attend daycare?
All puppies are required to have completed their full array of vaccinations. Puppies are generally 4 months old before they are safe to attend daycare. Please note: This policy is for the safety of your puppy as well as our other Top Dog guests.
